SONIFO
A Play-to-Create MIDI Instrument for Teen Beginners
Design specification
Sonifo is a modular, multisensory music instrument designed for teen beginners. At its core, the system emphasizes hands-on play through physical modules that map melody, rhythm, and sound effects to distinct bodily actions. By touching, hitting, shaking, pushing, and pulling, users intuitively explore musical structures through their senses. The hardware supports three creative modes—Improvisation, Performance, and Arrangement—allowing users to freely play, reinterpret, and reshape music. The app interface remains purely visual, while AI operates quietly in the background, providing guidance, structure, and feedback only when needed.
Hardware product
By connecting modular hardware devices via Bluetooth, users can experience their creative output through physical instrument performance. After completing their compositions, users can explore the diverse textures of their music through performance, thereby deepening their creative journey.
SOFTWARE INTERFACE
Sonifo app lowers the barrier to music creation by structuring composition into clear creative stages. Starting from a text-based idea, users are guided by AI through melody creation, harmony selection, and style and instrumentation shaping, leading to a complete song, allowing music learning to emerge naturally through continuous creative practice.
