LIGHT WAVES MEET SOUND WAVES
Design Statement
This Bluetooth speaker draws inspiration from the fleeting forms of water ripples. Crafted from acrylic, its surface is sculpted with undulating wave patterns. Light refracts through these ripples, creating dynamic light patterns that pulse in rhythm with the music—translating sound waves into real-time light and shadow. A mounting bracket allows the speaker to cling to walls like dewdrops. In daily use, it can also activate ambient lighting mode, transforming into a soothing mood lamp that enhances any interior space.
What We Created
This design is an exploration based on acrylic material. The unique optical and physical properties of acrylic have inspired us. Sound waves and water waves share a symbolic resonance in semiotics. We contemplated: could music be allowed to visually fill this space?
At this stage, it remains only a conceptual design, and we are seeking partners interested in acrylic—this remarkable optical material—to collaborate with us on refining and developing it further.
